Foam Magnets
We're a homeschool family, and I teach my little brother History, Latin, and English. But this year I want to introduce Art into both his, and my little little sister's curriculum. Just fun little projects that will get their creativity sparked. An easy, rewarding project like this is just what I need to kick off the beginning to the school year. I'm thinking I'll let them choose their own colors and shapes. They could make cats, cars, super heroes, food, anything they can imagine.

Salted Caramel Squares
I've never made caramel before. It's always seemed too daunting. But really, caramel is easy! It's only four ingredients. The trick to caramel is knowing when to take it off the heat. And luckily, that's not all that hard either.

Healing Tea
There's a summer cold going around. I hate summer colds. It doesn't seem as bad in the winter somehow. You're not supposed be sick in summer. Summer is for smelling flowers, not sitting inside wrapped in twenty blankets.
I know exactly how I caught this cold

Egg and Cheese Stuffed Pancake Cups
I am definitely a breakfast person. Not a morning person. Just a breakfast person. Definitely not a morning person. I like to eat breakfast at lunch time. So the two don't have to be one. Breakfast without morning. Perfect.

Pizza Bombs
These Pizza Bombs are aptly named. They explode in your mouth. Gooey, cheesy, pizza-y perfection.
My sister (Yammie) and her husband, Samuel, are home from Germany to visit. Samuel ate four of these pizza bombs. And he is known around here as the Bread King, so they must be pretty darn good.

Paper Mache Golden Globe
This was such a fun craft for me. I adore paper mache projects. And this is the easiest of the easiest, and here's why:
You don't have to use a balloon and pop it after.
That's too hard, we don't like that.
We are using a Styrofoam ball instead. Because it's easy, and because it's more sturdy.
I am in love with globes. And luckily for me, a huge portion of the Pinterest population is as well, so I get to feast my eyes every day on endless pages of globes. I've redecorated my bedroom with only globes, globe chairs, globes instead of doors-
No, I'm not that obsessed.
But seriously, I look at globes a lot on Pinterest, but I always wanted to see a paper mache globe! But, alas, I never have. So I've taken it upon myself to give the people what they've always wanted.
This is what you always wanted... isn't it?

This is what you always wanted... isn't it?
So, let's get to it.
What you will need:
Styrofoam Ball
Gold ribbon/twine
An unused staple
Printed paper (2 Sheets)
Paper Mache
2 Cup Water
1 Cups Flour
What you will do...
Whisk together until smooth.
Tear some printed paper into strips
Tie a little loop of golden twine or ribbon. Take a staple out of your stapler and secure the twine
Use the first strip of paper to secure the ribbon.
Keep dipping the paper strips an pressing them onto the ball. The first few strips are hard to get to stay on, because they don't have anything to hold on to.
But just keep going, they'll start sticking to each other
Place on hard surface (I put tinfoil on the floor) and let dry completely
Yeah, I started out with three, but my sister's dog ate the one on the right. :( |
Now it's time to paint the continents. Just the basic shapes, you don't have to be an artist. Just make sure you paint Michigan in, because it looks cool and because I live there.
Use metallic gold acrylic paint and allow paint to dry completely. Outline with a black permanent marker.

TA DA! Yay! They're so pretty.

Cosmic Brownie Oreo Krispie Treats
These Krispie Treats are INSANE. I know they have three different brand names in the title, which might be hard to swallow... But in a much more physical and real sense, they are incredibly easy to swallow... In fact, they are quite addictive.
I am crazy about them. And now so is my entire family.
They came to me in a vision as if from heaven. Why had I never thought of this? It was as if a dark veil was removed from my mind, and now I can see clearly that which has been missing from my life.
