Nothing beats a fluffy, soft, gooey cinnamon roll. Except for a fluffy, soft, gooey Nutella cinnamon roll. Blissful rolls that melt in your mouth, satisfyingly chocolate, with a creamy, heavenly glaze. What are you waiting for??
You haven't lost the classic cinnamon taste either, cinnamon is still a brightly shining star in these chocolate-y rolls. But cinnamon must share the spot light with the cream glaze and generous helping of everyone's favorite hazelnut spread.
Cinnamon rolls are my favorite thing to make for breakfast. It starts off your day in the happiest way possible. My brother-in-law (The Bread King, as we call him), and my younger brother's new fiance (Leah, who also loves comfort foods-especially mashed potatoes) are both guests at our house this week, and what better way to make them feel at home than with a cinnamon roll?
Both Leah, and the Bread King, ate two whole rolls. I was pretty proud. So what are you waiting for? Get on your apron and impress all your in-laws and future in-laws with Nutella Cinnamon Rolls!
Nutella Cinnamon Rolls
What you will need...
For the rolls
1/2 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream (If you don't have whipping cream, or you have something against it or whatever, substitute whipping cream and water for 2 Cups of milk!)
1 1/2 Cup Water
2 Tabespoons Active Dry Yeast
6 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
4 1/2 Cups Flour
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
About a Cup of Nutella
Glaze:
1 Stick Butter (Melted)
1 Cup Heavy Cream
2 Cups Powdered Sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla
What you will do....
Mix water and heavy cream together in a microwave-safe bowl for 1 minute. Whisk in yeast and let sit for 3 minutes.
Add brown sugar, oil, and salt.
Pour into stand mixer. With dough hook attachment, mix at medium low speed, adding flour 1 half cup at a time.
Beat on high for 10 minutes.
Butter an 8 by 6 dish (A bigger dish won't make a difference. If you don't have this size, just use what you do have.)
Let rise with wet towel covering dough, for 15-30 minutes.
Clean a space on the counter and sprinkle flour over surface.
Roll out dough into a large rectangle.
Sprinkle on cinnamon. Spread Nutella evenly over the dough.
Roll dough over itself from the top down to form a long log. Use a bread knife, or serrated knife to cut 1-2 inch thick rolls.
Place rolls close together in prepared dish.
If desired brush an egg over top and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake 45 minutes to an hour until the tops turn golden brown.
For glaze, whisk together melted butter, vanilla, sugar, then cream, and pour over rolls while still warm.
Serve with a tall glass of milk and a large coffee. Enjoy!
